Game Description
Virtual Reality
You get trapped in your daughter’s dollhouse for not giving her enough attention when she asked you to play with her. Now you need your child’s attention to escape. You find ways to make loud noises and sounds inside the cramped space by interacting with toys around you. However, you soon discover the only way you can leave is by simply unlocking the front door with the correct key.
The VR gameplay follows a fluid storyline, a cartoony CG aesthetic, and spatial audio to create an immersive experience between 360 video and 3D Virtual Reality space.
Virtual Reality vs. 360 Video
The idea of using a Dollhouse for VR was that it creates a contrasting comparison for the player between the small VR world and the larger 360 video outside. The player is interacting with a tight, enclosed space inside the dollhouse. Their movements generate and progress the storyline outside of the VR realm.
Game Design
At the most basic level, we chose to build a simple escape room with a narrative around a mother and daughter’s relationship. The mother ends up trapped in her daughter’s dollhouse to learn a lesson. The moral of the story is to appreciate the time a parent has with their child. The experience inside the dollhouse is meant to bring curiosity and excitement as the player enthusiastically interacts with the world around them and watches the rest of the story unfold outside.
